2025 Hurricane SunDeck 3200 Review: New Flagship Cruiser!
The builder’s 2025 flagship takes you from deck boat to an open bow overnight cruiser without departing the popular brand.
Hurricane Deck Boats just introduced a new flagship and with it, signaled that it’s growing out of their traditional market, reaching up to cabin cruiser territory. With their new SunDeck 3200, you can weekend on the Great Lakes or even go near-coastal cruising in Florida with all the amenities of a large yacht.

Model Overview
The Hurricane SunDeck 3200 is 32’ LOA and carries a 10‘6” beam. It weighs around 15,000 pounds dry so it’s no lightweight. You can board on either port or starboard via the wide aft platform just ahead of the twin outboards. Our test boat was fitted with the whisper-quiet Mercury V10 400-hp models but there was talk about testing future versions with Mercury 500R racing engines since the boat is rated for up to 1000 horsepower. With 248 gallons of fuel, this model has long legs and you won’t need to plot your course by the location of fuel docks along your route.
Key Features
From the dock, the 3200’s color scheme gives her a sense of momentum, especially with the swoop of color toward the transom and the angled windshield and hardtop. Two big boat features are available and both hint at the way this cruiser can be used. The first is a generator so your energy independence is assured even if you want to run A/C. The second is a Seakeeper 2 gyrostabilizer. This will enable you to venture offshore across Lake Michigan or into the coastal waters off Florida without the risk of seasickness.
Other available comfort features include the electric sunroof in the hardtop and the electrically activated SureShade Bimini that extends aft over the cockpit seating. The aft cockpit is somewhat configurable. Our boat had a dining/cocktail table with corner seating to port that also converts to a sunbed when the aft backrest swings forward. A sink, grill and refrigerator are to starboard behind the helm seat.
Cabin Interior
Although the 3200 is a technically a bow rider, it has a roomy cabin below with a convertible double bed, a microwave and a refrigerator. The head is surprisingly spacious with a shower and 6’ 3” headroom. There’s absolutely nothing stopping you from weekending or better yet, cruising dock-to-dock or to the occasional remote anchorage on an extended summer vacation.

Helm Controls
The double helm and single companion bucket seats swivel to face aft so they’re fully in the social action at the dock or at anchor. Just ahead is a very tall windshield with an opening section to form a walkthrough to the bow on port. Sitting in the companion seat I noticed a few things – I had an induction charger for my phone at hand. I had two footrests available depending on which way the seat was angled. And even with the windshield closed, I was fairly buffeted by the wind here, more than the two people at the helm who were about a foot further forward and tucked in behind the windshield. Bring a hat if you’re going to sit here.
Bow Area
Sun worshipers will find their bit of heaven on the foredeck with a triple sunbed/seating area complete with arm rests and cupholders. I lost count of all the cupholders since I was distracted by so many other details such as the upholstery stitching, the blue color accents in what Hurricane calls Lagoon with Sedona and White furniture and the soft and padded faux teak that felt luxurious underfoot.

Sea Trial Test Drive
Our test boat was fitted with twin Simrad NSO 16-inch multifunction displays with a custom Hurricane interface. You can also opt for a Simrad Halo 20-mile radar and JL Audio’s Ultimate system with ten speakers throughout the boat on deck and below. The clarity of sound will make docktails a demure affair or everyone will hear you coming if you choose to blast more boisterous tunes across the water. Sirius XM radio is an option.

Performance
We tested the 3200 on the calm waters of Lake Wawasee in Indiana. At wide-open-throttle, we reached 51.5 mph at 6000 rpm with five of us aboard, full fuel tanks and no water. A sweet spot cruise was around 4000 rpm where we found a 31-mph cruise burning 18.5 gallons combined between the two engines.
Her hole shot was respectable with about 12 seconds to 30 mph and about 7 seconds to plane. I did notice quite a bit of bow rise during all our maneuvers which is something Hurricane should investigate as the horizon was obscured until we reached about 25 mph before the boat pushed her nose back down. Onboard tankage includes 248 gallons of fuel so she’ll have the range needed to go cruising with little trouble.
Future plans
Why did Hurricane choose to go in this direction with their massive new flagship? It’s a good guess that the brand wanted to provide their dealer network with new kind of product to sell as well as provide their customer base something to step up into. When you’re faced with your base leaving to find a bigger boat, why not just build one and keep them close to home?
You can tow the SunDeck 3200 on a triple- axle trailer so your cruising is unlimited. The Hurricane 3200 has a base MSRP of $385,000 but well optioned, you can expect to pay $450,000, especially if you choose the 500R engines and joystick command.
